West Indies and Pakistan have both struggled to win games in the 50-over format in recent times. The latter, however, have the upper hand in terms of head-to-head count; they have had better of the Windies seven times in their last nine ODI encounters against them. Pakistan emerged victorious 2-1 when these two teams last played an ODI series against each other in April 2017 in the West Indies. The Windies do have a strong ODI record at the Trent Bridge having won five out of their six completed matches here while Pakistan have lost four of their last five matches played at this ground. Jason Holder and his men are being touted as the dark horses of this World Cup and they will be going into this game high on confidence after crushing New Zealand by 91 runs in their previous outing.
