SuperBowl and bet365

bet365 Review

For the first time since 2016 a team named New England Patriots won’t be contesting a Super Bowl, the seemingly undefeatable duo of Tom Brady and Bill Belichick will instead be watching from the comfort of their own homes. And they will be watching a Kansas City Chiefs team face a San Francisco 49ers team that have endured somewhat of a wait to contest America’s biggest event of the year.

1970 – the year the Beatles split, Jack Nicklaus won his eighth major, Mariah Carey was born, Margaret Court won all four Grand Slams, Apollo 13 – all of these were mere footnotes for Kansas City Chiefs’ fans. This was their year, their moment in the spotlight, their time to shine – a 23-7 victory of Minnesota Vikings saw them crowned champions of Super Bowl IV. Four years after reaching their first-ever Super Bowl they were back on the biggest stage of them all, and this time winning. Fast-forward 50, yes FIFTY, years later and that remains the last time they appeared on the world stage, Chiefs coach Andy Reid has finally led them to the promised land.

They face a 49ers team who have endured a 25-year wait to get their hands on the prestigious Vince Lombardi trophy, their 49-26 victory over San Diego Chargers in Miami saw them lift a fifth title at the Joe Robbie Stadium. The man who was initially brought in to replace Tom Brady at New England Patriots, Jimmy Garoppolo, has fired the 49ers to the 54th Super Bowl and coach Kyle Shanahan will be hoping he can go one further and end the 25 years of hurt.

After 266 games of the 2019-20 season we’re down to two teams who have waited a combined 75 years for the chance to lift one of sport’s greatest ever titles. What a spectacle we are in for; the free-flowing, high-scoring Chiefs against the disciplined and resolute 49ers who don’t give you a sniff. Stopping the robotic-like arm of Patrick Mahomes, who can fire his missiles from wherever he likes is something defensive coach Robert Saleh will have been preparing for the past few weeks, stating “his mobility is unique. His arm strength is ridiculous. He’s very, very accurate.”

Mahomes is the player the fans will want to see the most of, and who can blame them?! In 2017 he was a backup rookie QB, in 2018 he was the NFL MVP and in 2019 he could be a Super Bowl winner. What an absolutely meteoric rise it will be should he lead his team to victory in Miami on Sunday. In his last three play-off games he’s thrown for 910 yards including 11 touchdowns with 0 interceptions. The 49ers though have 48 sacks this season, mainly from the handiwork of messrs Bosa, Armstead, Buckner and Ford who will be looking to give the Chiefs main man zero time to improve on his post-season passer rating of an incredible 131.5.

That passer rating could be impacted by nine-year veteran cornerback, Richard Shearman, who since signing for the 49ers in 2018, has re-established himself as one of the top defensive backs in the sport, as proven by being the highest ranked cornerback in the entire NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. Sherman, who was part of the ‘Legion of Boom’ as a Seattle Seahawk, has already played in two Super Bowls, winning one of them, so he knows what it takes to be victorious in America’s biggest game.

We will also be treated to two of the best tight-ends in the game going head-to-head – George Kittle and Travis Kelce – two men in the prime of their careers who are A1 and A2 in their position facing off in the biggest game of them all – whoever comes out on top between the pair, the Vince Lombardi trophy could well be heading to their respective team.

In 53 Super Bowls there has never been a tight-end named MVP, this year there is every chance of that trend being bucked. Both would have been on opposite sides in the Pro Bowl if they hadn’t reached the Super Bowl such has been their impact this season. Both defenses are going to need to be on high alert come game day to stop either of these two men running riot.

The betting for the game is as tight as you like, the money line currently stands at 21/20 (2.05) for the 49ers and 4/5 (1.80) for the Chiefs, it really is as close to pick-em as you can get. No matter what happens, fans are set to be treated to a showpiece event of the year already – with Jennifer Lopez and Shakira taking on half-time show duties, “Whenever and Wherever” you are, bet365 have a fantastic Open Account Offer available to new customers.
