Everton vs Chelsea prediction (1x2)

✓ Jose Mourinho is likely to be staring at the league table in disbelief after his sides start to the season, his Chelsea team sit 13th with just four points from their first four matches – a win over West Brom (3-2), a draw with Swansea (2-2) and defeats to Manchester City (3-0) and most recently Crystal Palace (3-1). Chelsea have so far looked like a shadow of the team that ran away with the Premier League just last season. Hazard, Costa and Fabregas are struggling to get going offensively this season whilst defensively Cahill and Terry are making mistakes, and Matic is not offering the same protection that the defence is used to. Roberto Martinez will be satisfied but not excited with Everton’s start. As always they are frustratingly inconsistent with a great performance followed by a poor performance. Everton are ninth in the table with five points from their four games, the latest being a 0-0 draw away at Tottenham where Everton were extremely lucky to get a draw. Tottenham had 20 plus attempts and would have won easily with a half decent striker – Harry Kane seemed very low on confidence Everton offer attacking promise through the likes of Lukaku and Barkley, but remain fragile defensively. Their style of play may play into the hands of a Chelsea team keen to get back to winning ways. Roberto Martinez likes to play attractive passing football, but this leaves them open to a quick counter attack, as Tottenham proved before the international break despite not actually managing to score. Pedro has already shown himself to be great signing for Chelsea and with him and Hazard on either wing Everton will find themselves in trouble when they lose the ball high up the pitch. Chelsea won both games against Everton last season, including a 6-3 win at Goodison Park and despite home advantage for Everton I think this will again end up being three points to Chelsea.
