Preview from mattybank:
The second leg of the capital one cup semis and I expect city to overturn their first leg deficit on their home turf. "Its the third time we play Everton- we know their team". "The most important thing is to try and play another final at Wembley. That is our target. After we lost 2-1, I said that If we don't qualify for the final, Its not because of that game but because we can't win at home at least 1-0". Those were from Man city manager Manuel pellegrini. The cityzens come into this game knowing that at least a win to nil would secure a league cup final for them at wembley. They are coming from a 2-2 draw against West ham at the boleyn ground. A game which a tactical switch by the manager helped them secure a point after they were trailing 2-1 for long in the game. Man city can count on all but Alexandar Kolarov, Wilfried Bony, Eliaquim Mangala, Skipper Vincent Kompany and Samir Nasri who remain sidelined due to injuries. Everton manager Roberto Martinez- 'Disappointments are painful at the moment because results have not been fair in reflecting the effort and football we have played'. Everton were compelled to their 5th home defeat of the season by swansea who won them at the Goodison park 2-1 at the weekend and today, they face a city side who they held 0-0 a couple of weeks ago in the league. They have injury concerns as Mirallas[tendon] and Besic [hamstring] suffered injuries in that defeat to swansea and so would not take part here. After it ended 0-0 here last time in the league, I had my reservations about taking city to win Everton today. But after Everton's disappointing loss last time out, I had a rethink. This is the closest trophy city can lay their hands on this season; the champions league? Sure, they've got a good chance of progressing to the quarter finals after which they still have to play till May to be crowned European champions, the premier league? Still undecided yet but they are 2nd and are 3 points off league leaders Leicester city. The FA cup? they still have a pretty long way to go as they are still in the baby stages of the tournament. And with speculations that Pep Guardiola could possibly take charge of Man city team come next season, I think a trophy-laden season will be a big boost both for the club and especially for the out going manager. No better way to start off than by getting to the finals of this one and possibly winning it. With a possible line-up like the one that played in the weekend. I think they would cover our handicap. All through last year, City have only won by 1 goal twice against Spurs and then, Crystal palace this season and those were away from home. City's home games has a history of producing many goals and today, I expect the hosts to have 2+ goals higher than their guest. A possible 2-0 or 3-1 for me. You can go for a -1AH for a guarantee void of stake if they fail to win by 2+ goals but I expect them to. GL!
